France Wins Second World Cup Title

France has claimed its place in world history, winning its second World Cup title in a 4-2 victory against Croatia on Sunday in Russia.

France's win ends Croatia's thrilling run through the tournament held in Russia, even after its team managed to survive three extra-time games, and two penalty shootouts to reach their first final in World Cup history.

But France would not be denied after they made their first goal off a Croatian player's head, and a second goal with the assist of an Argentine referee, becoming the first video-reviewed goal ever.

France's next two goals came courtesy of Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe, proving once and for all that they had fielded the best team on the field this summer in Russia.

In pouring rain that began shortly after the game ended, FIFA president Gianni Infantino presented the trophy to the French team alongside Russian president Vladimir Putin, Croatia's president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, and France's Emmanuel Macron.

Croatia's Luke Modric won the coveted Golden Ball as the tournament's best player while Kylian Mbappe was honored as the best young player. England's Harry Kane was presented with the Golden Boot for being the tournament's top scorer to the consternation of the crowd in Russia.
