Cashier Sprayed in Eyes With Lysol By Customer Angry Over Purchase Limit

Police in Leicester, Massachusetts are searching for a woman they say sprayed Lysol disinfectant at a Walmart cashier after she was informed of the purchase limits on the item.

According to a Facebook post from the department, the woman was at a Walmart on March 27 when the cashier informed her of the store's recent policy on limited the number of Lysol disinfectant cans and other products people were being allowed to purchase.

The customer reportedly became so angry, she sprayed the cashier in the eyes, and then completed her purchase. Police say the woman left the store in what they believe is an Uber. They posted her photo on Facebook Sunday in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Paramedics were called to the store to treat the cashier.

Disinfectant sprays, hand sanitizer and paper products have been highly sought after during the coronavirus pandemic. Many big box stores began limiting the number of certain items each customer could purchase in an effort to cut down on hoarding.

"Anyone with information is requested to contact Officer Matthew Soojian at (508) 892-7010 ext. 2066 or soojianm@leicesterpd.org. Thank you in advance for any assistance," the department wrote.
