Man Hops Airport Fence And Climbs On Airplane's Wing In Las Vegas

Authorities in Las Vegas arrested a man who hopped the fence at McCarran International Airport and climbed onto the wing of an airplane. Alaska Airlines Flight 1367 from Las Vegas to Portland was preparing for takeoff when the pilots noticed the man, later identified as 41-year-old Alejandro Carlson, running toward the aircraft.

The pilots contacted air traffic controllers and had to abort the takeoff as he managed to climb onto the wing. Shocked passengers watched from the windows as police tried to get Carlson off the wing. He refused to get down and took off his shoes and socks. At one point attempted to climb the winglet at the edge of the wing.

Officers eventually used the emergency doors to climb onto the wing. After nearly 45 minutes, the man fell off the wing and landed on the tarmac. One of the passengers was recording as he fell off the wing and shared the video on Facebook.

"It was definitely one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen in my life," Erin Evans, 50, of Vancouver, Washington, told ABC News.

Carlson was taken into custody and brought to the hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries. Officials determined he did not violate federal law and he was charged with trespassing and disregard for public safety.
