Shay Mooney couldn’t resist singing along when Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims delivered a genre-blending mashup on the Bridgestone Arena stage at the 58th CMA Awards on Wednesday evening (November 20) in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Dan + Shay shared the moment on TikTok on Thursday (November 21), capturing Mooney singing along during the performance. The duo captioned the TikTok, “we lose control every time this song comes on.” Mooney stood in the arena with his wife, Hannah Mooney, who is pregnant with Baby No. 4, as he sang along to Rhett’s performance with Swims.

Rhett and Swims teamed up to perform Swims’ soulful single “Lose Control,” in addition to their collaboration version of “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman,” the title track of the country star’s seventh studio record. Rhett released the album in August, serving as a nod to his wife of more than a decade, Lauren Akins.

Dan + Shay, made up of Mooney and Dan Smyers, recently released their highly-anticipated Christmas album, and made the holiday project a double record. It’s Officially Christmas; The Double Album includes “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year,” “Let It Snow,” “Silent Night,” “Officially Christmas,” “are Me Home For Christmas,” “Holiday Party” and more. They’ve recently released a few festive music videos, including one for “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town,” featuring Smyers and Mooney rollerblading down the street in Santa jackets.

“It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album is a 21-song collection of brand new originals and our take on classics that you already know and love,” Dan + Shay said when they announced the album. “This project has been a decade in the making, and we are so proud of every single note. We truly leaned into our love for the holiday season and think we found some magic in these songs. Our hope is that you are able to enjoy + share that same magic with your loved ones for years to come. As always, thank you for continuing to believe in us and allowing us to live our dream. We’re grateful for you, and we’re grateful for Christmas! 🎄”
