Trisha Yearwood shared a festive birthday tribute to legendary singer Brenda Lee. Lee, a Georgia-born artist nicknamed āLittle Miss Dynamite,ā is known for her timeless holiday hit, āRockinā Around the Christmas Tree,ā which she released in the late 1950s at just 13 years old.
Yearwood posted a photo of herself with Lee sitting in front of a glowing Christmas tree, and penned a heartfelt tribute to celebrate Leeās birthday on Wednesday (December 11). She turned 80. Yearwood wrote in her caption on Instagram: āJust Rockinā Around the Christmas Tree with little miss dynamite!Ā Happy Birthday [Brenda Lee]!Ā I love you! xo.ā
Lee said last year that she ācannot believeā that she shattered records with āRockinā Around The Christmas Treeā more than six decades after she originally released the song. The song went No. 1 last year, 65 years after its release, marking Leeās third No. 1, the longest stretch of time between the singerās first and most recent No. 1, and the oldest woman to reach No. 1, her record label noted. Lee said in a statement via her label last year: āThis is amazing! I cannot believe that āRockināā has hit No. 1 65 years after it was released, this is just so special! The song came out when I was a young teenager and now to know that it has resonated with multiple generations and continues to resonate ā it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. Keep on Rockinā and Merry Christmas!ā
Yearwood and Tanya Tucker teamed up with Lee on the first-ever music video for āRockinā Around The Christmas Treeā last year. Watch it here:
