Megan Moroney called out a âheartbreakerâ in the lyrics of an unreleased song that she shared on TikTok on Monday (June 2).
Moroney set the scene of an emotional split around November 2019 that left her âbarely alive.â Though she admitted it sounds âdramatic,â the reigning Country Music Association New Artist of the Year said she âsurvived,â and received a call from her ex several months later:
âLet me set you the scene/ November circa 2019/ Put a hole in my heart, watched it bleed/ You said that we were better off as strangers/ I was barely alive/ Out of 6 feet deep I was 5/ Pretty sure they called a hearse outside/ OK thatâs dramatic, but I survived/ Then I survivedâŠ
âThe âhey Meg, I think I want you backâ/ âIâm a couple drinks in thinking itâs my bad that I let you walk away and let you goâ/ Itâs a tale as old as time I guess/ When you couldnât care more I couldnât care less/ Youâre a little too late to the party, heartbreaker/ What doesnât kill you calls you 6 months laterâ
Moroney hasnât announced the anthemâs release date as of publication time.
The Emo Cowgirlâs latest song to release is âYou Had Yo Be There,â a collaboration with Kenny Chesney that she wrote as a Christmas gift to him. The lyrics mark a full circle moment for Moroney, who sat in section 312 when she attended Chesneyâs concert in May 2018 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Seven years later, she had a âdifferent point of viewâ when she opened for the country megastar on his headlining stadium tour.
Moroneyâs latest studio album is Am I Okay?, her highly-anticipated sophomore record that arrived last summer. she expanded it a few months later with three additional tracks on the deluxe edition, Am I Okay? (Iâll Be Fine). It was a powerful follow-up to Moroneyâs breakout debut, Lucky, and its deluxe edition in 2023. See the singer-songwriterâs latest teaser here:
